I can't seem to get Ave Verum Corpus out of my head. I like Ave Maria (ironically I like Hail Mary more) and the original Our Father song is good (the country and icky versions not so much) but An Act of Hope, An Act of Charity, and An Act of Contrition (usually said in that order excepting for when you need one specifically like Act of Contrition but I only happen to like an Act of Charity -- I'm a brat) don't have a song :( how sad.
An Act of Charity
O my God, I love Thee above all things, with my whole heart and soul, because Thou art all good and worthy of all love. I love my neighbor as myself for the love of Thee. I forgive all who have injured me, and ask pardon of all whom I have injured. Amen.
-- However, I'm a brat. I don't like the lyrics so I'm rewriting them as suits me :P
In loving you I can love myself
In loving myself I can love my neighbor
And in loving my fellow man, I can love you.
I need all three to be at peace
To earn the tranquility and to be one with you
You, my heavenly father who guides and protects me
For without you, I cannot do my best
So with my whole heart, I will try
To forgive, to live, and love always.
Amen.
And this is something random I want stuck in a song
Angel of God, my guardian dear,
To whom His love entrusts me here,
Ever this day [night] be at my side
To light and guard, to rule and guide.
-Amen
Closing up I finish with Our Father. (Pater Noster) (or in the Bach version: Vater Unser im Hemmeliech.)
Our Father who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name
Thy Kingdom come, they will be done
On Earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespassed against us
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
-Amen
It suddenly occurs to me I'm going to be buying a lot of Bach cds. Been debating it for a while but now I think I shall. I hope Kyle likes him.
