2011 Headcheck
Jan. 15th, 2011 08:22 amSince One Piece, tigers, and so forth are absolutely no surprise, this is the newish "THINGS I LIKE" version for 2011. To see how much sticks in 10 years if I'm still around to read it. Not in order, just as they occur to me to mention.
1) Doctor Who. I started gradually watching more and more over 2010. Until the most recent season I wasn't into it. I tried it a couple of times and really wasn't impressed. Then tried a few marathons and the newest season with Moosey and the more I watched it the more I wanted to. It's completely addicting and luckily one of the very rare shows where the more you see the more it really does grow on you.
2) Torchwood. Totally only started because of Jack and the Doctor Who but man in the first episode I saw they had lesbian makeout, sex pollen, succubus dust, the argument of "is Jack straight, or gay?" and a healing kiss. It's like all the GOOD stuff of fandom without the writing that makes you feel like you're kneedeep in sewage. Good times.
3) Border Collies and Australian shepherds. It's no secret I love dogs. And wolves. (duh) By the same token I usually prefer them freaking huge though. Irish Wolfhounds, mastiffs, really the smallest I generally like is a German shepherd and they're still considered pretty damn big by most. I've definitely had a soft spot for the border collies and shepherds in action though because the border collies have an amazing stare/glare for herding and they're both impressive jumping athletes and disc dogs. And for characterization purposes? Can't go wrong with Collie.
4) Ultracet. Not new in the least, but given my Mom's propensity to drama, END OF THE WORLD-esque fears, and the fact that doctors + insurance bureaucrats + pharmacists don't exactly spell out a team of communication success (even on something they've already been DOING for the last 8 years =\) I had a recent scare with the idea that I might not ever get to have some again. Or that it would cost $2000 a year. :| Yeah, it's all fixed, just some bug-up with the new year and prior authorization and MY MOM IS NUTS. But 90 pills to last me 2 and a half months = a happy CC.
5) Pokemon Ranger. Fucking LOVE this game. (Shadows of Almia atm) The writing is epic, the gameplay is GREAT and other than some rough action points I SUCK at and have to get Moosey's help, it's like the best game EVER. Although it should be noted that the action parts are about as rough as in Sapphire/Ruby/Emerald and they could be a bitch sometimes. This is why I keep Moosey for help :3 Anyways gotta get the other 2 though I promised to get through Final Fantasy 3 and 4 first.
6) Directing. It seems strange to say "I forget" but I pretty much will myself to. Once I start working things out from a director's P.O.V. though I remember how much I felt... complete with it. Even more than writing. I guess it's a little weird. I need writing more than directing, but I definitely know myself to be a better director than writer. And analyzing tv from a director's seat makes me tingle with joy~
7) How I Met Your Mother. Pretty much the only current American sitcom I can even call "Really good." Because it is. The writing is fantastic. The jokes are actually funny as all get out, and it's not hard to relate to, while still keeping up really well with modern times even told from a future view. It's awesome.
