You know what's really sick? Who do they think they're protecting? The U.S. is a democracy which doesn't make it the land of the free so much as the land of the majority, and sometimes when you're a minority that can really bite. But seriously who do they think they're protecting with this? The MAJORITY of Americans do not want to have polluted water, get various cancers from illegally disposed toxic waste and have to spend MORE money cleaning it than could possibly have been saved. So who are they protecting?
As it is, just as the "Clean Air Act" loosened restrictions (yeah that's progress alright, way to go, CLEARLY what Americans want...) and the Patriot Act is HARDLY patriotic, The Clean Water Act, also loosened restrictions (much to my frustration and scientists encroaching belief that "there's something in the water") so to be defying THAT has to be REALLY bad.
But for every one of these batshit crazy things, there's a Wall-E lesson out there that the MAJORITY of Americans will enjoy.
And either way, whether McCain or Obama wins, it's gonna get better on the environment front. And why? Because the MAJORITY of Americans don't like wasting extra money and not being able to live/exist just from lousy environmental practices that hurt them.
