The muses re-modernized.

I was trying to explain the whole me + Shitawa (my sabre) thing.... again. I failed miserably of course. But it's like the me + my muse thing. Which I was trying to explain to Ikki about the whole her hating BNL thing. She is there in my head frequently yelling at me and I'm grateful for it (SO much easier to write with her yelling at me and pestering me and it keeps me company and no nightmares). Anyone who has experienced it will tell you, "Yeah totally know what you mean... I think." But I probably do take a step further because I'm probably just that freaking crazy... So for the sake of explaining let's put it as female creativity personality aspects.

First the list of the traditionals:

Calliope -- head muse and epic poetry
Clio -- history
Erato = erotic poetry
Melpomene = tragedy
Terpischore = dance
Talia = comedy and bucolic poetry
Urania = astronomy
Eutpre -- lyrical song
Polyhymnia -- scared song

Now the moderns (imo and un-named)

1. Relious inspiration. This would be all things cathedrals, architecture, Christian rock, Mary and/or Jesus paintings, statues, stained glass murals etc.
2. Classic art. Almost renaissance in nature but also including landscapes and anything that might be viewed as "traditional" and not "weird" :P
3. Poetry. But not emo.
4. Lyrical music. (The lyrics aspect) Includes anything from country (really? yeah really) to rock, pop, Steven Sondheim and yes, rap.
5. Instrumental music. Jazz, classical, backgrounds, John Williams, etc.
6. Fanfiction. Why does it get it's own? Becaus she's so there. And powerful. And totally rabid fangirl style. Fear her most of all. All her sisters are relatively sophisticated (lyrical music being a little punk-rocker style imo) but she is not. She is probably definitely the youngest and raving rabid fangirl. RIFs, Harry Potter shippers, they are all pounced by her.
7. Indie. Mostly I mean Indie movies but indie music too. Insisting on being unique and full of social significance, at least a little bit politically oriented, maybe even French. I'll bet she wears a beret
8. Porn Goddess. Um... really really don't know what to tell you on this. Think Jessica Rabbit meets Aphrodite meets porn star... Frightening, probably slutty, but a goddess to many. (or just frightening to me)
9. Calliope I keep as is but epic prose. All things epic prose. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, XMen, James Bond, Indiana Jones, Disney even. The stuff of legends, adored by many etc. Since trying to piece some things together I'm pretty sure if I have one of the nine I've got her bouncing around in my head. (surprising isn't it? You all thought it had to be fanfiction girl :P) And if I do, then I know she is a at LEAST a little dominatrixy. I mean she'd have to be in order to be in charge of her sisters but yeah, whips, black studded leather? So there. Which is good because being the way I am it would take her to get me to do anything she wanted. And we do know she wins over me but I enjoy it.

I know that the muses are all woman because the idea is that the poets etc. were inspired by women and it's hypothetically misogynist but I actually really do stand by the belief they are "feminine in nature." Which I think needs to be noted, is unique for me. After all when I do personify things they tend to be male in my mind because that's the way my brain works. But the muses are 100% women. And I don't have one for fashion design because I don't really think there is one... for some reason. It seems like there should be but to me there isn't. Fashion comes from the people and the muses just keep in time enough with it.

Theory on why Calliope (if it is her) doesn't like BNL but does like Meatloaf: She inspired Meatloaf but her lyrical music sister inspired BNL. *shrugs* Who knows? But if we are talking epic here... I guess BNL isn't all that "epic" but Queen, Meatloaf, BNL, and One Piece do fall into that category. Very interesting.

And on another note: fanfiction girl is also a video gamer nerd. So videogames probably have some of her touch.
